Positive Behavior Support for Young Children is a supplement to Positive Behavior Support for ALL Michigan Students: Creating Environments That Assure Learning, published by the Michigan Department of Education in February 2000. Positive Behavior Support for Young Children is written for:

  • Professional childcare providers
  • Childcare provider associations
  • Teachers
  • Directors of early care and educational programs
  • Personnel working with preprimary children with disabilities
  • Other early childhood professionals
  • Parents of children in early care and educational settings.

The goals of Positive Behavior Support for Young Children are to:

  1. support age-appropriate development
  2. maintain enrollment of young children in early care and educational settings and avoid expulsion
  3. promote school readiness
  4. create environments that assure early learning
