Project Forum Web Site Offers New Resources

Monday, May 03, 2010

The Project Forum Web site is offering two new resources for download:

  • Revocation of Parental Consent: State Approaches—Parental consent has always been a central tenet of the education disabilities law. This brief policy analysis describes the revised provisions of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) regulations to allow revocation of parental consent for continued special education and related services, state-provided guidance for local educational agencies (LEAs) and parent information, and states' experiences and challenges in implementing this revision.
  • Workforce Preparation to Serve Children Who Receive Part C Services—This brief policy analysis focuses on state requirements for the various professional roles for Part C services and collaborative efforts to ensure high quality personnel are available to provide Part C services. All states received a survey and 41 responded. Twelve early intervention professional roles were specified in the survey. Questions covered the requirements states expect professionals to hold for each position, the areas in which states have shortages, and how states are finding qualified personnel to fill positions. The document includes state-identified strategies to address issues.
