Autism Spectrum Disorder Planning Workgroup Process

The Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Planning Workgroup began meeting August 31, 2005 and will be meeting a total of 5 times, to complete the recommendations that will be proposed to the Human Services Directors by August 30, 2006. Within the ASD Planning Workgroup, five subcommittees have been established with the task of developing recommendations. The five subcommittees are:

  1. Results/Outcomes and Indicators
  2. Screening and Assessment Processes and Tools
  3. Intervention Models and Processes
  4. Fiscal Resources
  5. Training and Technical Assistance

Through a consensus process, subcommittee participants will develop recommendations pertaining to their identified topic area. Subcommittee recommendations will then be posted on the ASD Planning Workgroup website for review and public comment. The ASD Workgroup listserv, which includes members of the ASD Planning Workgroup and other stakeholders will be notified when the recommendations are posted on the website for their review and comment. The comments submitted via the website will be summarized and then reviewed by the subcommittee. The subcommittee will then determine how to best incorporate the comments into the recommendations. Final recommendations will then be submitted for the approval of the ASD Planning Workgroup.
