Holly Spence Sasso, who has been with the Center for Educational Networking (CEN) project since December 1994 when she started as a part-time writer, is currently the Director. In 1996, Holly was promoted to Associate Editor of Newsline a publication produced for the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) Office of Special Education and Early Intervention Services and devoted to the interests of special education stakeholders. In 1998 Holly became Editor of Newsline and in 2001 was promoted to Managing Editor to oversee all aspects of CEN’s print production efforts including the publication of Leading Change and FOCUS on Results. Holly holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Michigan State University (MSU), a master’s degree in English composition (MSU) with secondary and community college teaching endorsements, and a master’s degree in special education with a learning disabilities endorsement (MSU). As a journalist prior to CEN, Holly worked for two weekly Michigan newspapers, The Charlevoix County Press and The Delta Waverly News Herald and completed various free-lance writing assignments. Teaching experience includes substitute-teaching assignments at the middle and secondary school level around the Lansing area and adjunct teaching assignments for Davenport College and Lansing Community College. Holly also worked as a communication Coordinator for the Center for Quality Special Education, a Michigan Department of Education Office of Special Education and Early Intervention Services grant project.

Lori has been a part of the CEN project since August 2001, joining the staff as a communications specialist. In January 2004 she became the supervisor of technology and in October of 2006 the associate director. In her current role she supervises the production and distribution of all electronic communications and the development and maintenance of the CEN Web sites and database. In addition, she develops the short and long term technology goals for the project and assists the director with planning and budgeting. Lori also consults with other mandated activities projects and the Office of Special Education and Early Intervention Services on technology production services. Her duties also include coordinating the project's online registration and survey systems and analyzing monthly Web tracking trends. Lori also assists with design, layout, and editing of print materials. Prior to joining the CEN project she spent 13 years in athletic media relations at Michigan State University. Lori holds a bachelor's degree in communication from MSU.

Annette has been a communication specialist with CEN since August 2006 and previously worked as a program assistant beginning in November of 2000. Her duties include writing articles, editing text, proofreading documents, and assisting in the design and layout of various publications. Her primary responsibility involves working with the print production team to produce Leading Change. She compiles resources; selects graphic materials; communicates with contracted writers, designers, editors, and printers; and coordinates production efforts from start to finish. Annette also assists in maintaining the CEN and sister Web sites by uploading events, news items, products, and publications. Annette has been employed with Eaton ISD since the fall of 1989. She is currently pursuing a bachelor of arts degree at Siena Heights University in multidisciplinary studies with a minor in management. She will graduate in May of 2007.

Ash joined the team at CEN in late March of 2004. He was added to the staff for the purpose of handling development and support of databases and to assist in the maintenance of CEN's Web sites. Ash holds a bachelor's degree in Christian counseling and an associate of arts degree, both from Great Lakes Christian College. His background is in technology and design. Prior to joining the CEN staff, Ash was employed by a small design firm in Lansing and then by a growing technology firm in East Lansing. His previous duties ranged from customer service to database development to graphic design and Web site development. He and his wife currently operate a small web design business. Ash also has a history with CEN, having involved in database consulting and in the development and support of the CEN databases since January of 2001.

 Doug joined the CEN team in June of 2005 as a Communication Specialist for Print Production. His duties include writing articles, editing text, proofreading documents, and assisting in the design and layout of various publications. Other responsibilities include networking with stakeholders, and attending meetings of interest. Professionally, Doug worked as Editor and Senate Reporter for the Lansing-based political news service publication Michigan Information and Research Services, Inc. (MIRS). MIRS primarily covers Michigan’s three branches of government for those interested in an insider political perspective. Following his time with MIRS, Doug worked as Director of Communications for the Michigan Association of Counties (MAC). MAC is a Lansing-based non-profit organization representing the state’s county commissioners. Most recently, Doug was a document assembly programmer for an Okemos-based law office. Doug earned a bachelor of art’s degree and teaching certificate from Michigan State University (MSU) in 1987 and a master’s degree in journalism from MSU in 1992. Doug is married with two sons. |

Teri has worked as a program assistant for CEN since August 1996. She is responsible for producing the Michigan Special Education Directory, which involves obtaining and entering information and maintaining the database that drives the directory production. She manages the invoicing system, which is used to process publication orders submitted to CEN. This involves inventory control and an accounts receivable process. She obtains bids to reproduce and/or print documents distributed through CEN. Teri coordinates with the CEN Project Representative regarding conference attendance and with CEN staff and others to manage data related to a state and national communication network maintained by the project. Teri provides support to the Project Director with CEN business functions, which includes; coordinating interactions with Eaton Intermediate School District, contracted service providers and vendors, and contracted services contracts. She assists the Project Director with budget issues, correspondence and schedules and assists with office meetings. She generates mailings and other communications as needed. Teri attends to phone inquiries and coordinates requests for information.

Aimee has worked for Eaton Intermediate School District since February 1997 when she was employed as a co-op student. In April 1999, she was hired as a half-time program assistant for the Center for Educational Networking (CEN) and in July 2000, Aimee became a full-time program assistant. In her current position, Aimee prepares requisitions and reconciles invoices, maintains office supply inventory, maintains MDE memo notebooks, coordinates equipment maintenance and repair as needed, manages the back-up system for the server, assists with phones, collects and edits upcoming events for the Web site and publications, assists with formating documents including brochures and fliers, assists with proofreading, the document imaging center, coordinates personnel development training, conference registrations, and generates mailings.

Alison joined CEN in November 2007 as a temporary program assistant. In February 2008, she became a full time program assistant. She is responsible for tracking articles through the print production process, making edits, and documenting production files. She attends publication planning meetings and updates planning schedules. In addition to her print production duties, she also formats and posts news articles to the CEN Web site. Alison holds a bachelor’s degree in management and society from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
