Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Why do a pilot in the first place?

A. Shifting the focus from a static process to an evolutionary monitoring system that focuses on continuous improvement needs the necessary time frame for planning and implementation. By piloting this first year, necessary adjustments can be made along the way, allowing for an improved, more robust overall roll out of the project.

By connecting compliance indicators to student performance, assisting and identifying deep drivers and barriers hindering performance, and creating linkages and consolidation with related LEA initiatives the process touches on key areas that need to be addressed.

Q. What defines a pilot?

A. Pilot sites were chosen based on:

  • LEAs/SAs ranked for each priority area
  • Ranked in peer group of size
  • Mean for each group established
  • One standard deviation from mean created
  • Four levels established–invitations based on the fourth tier
Q. What are the roles and responsibilities of a pilot site?

A. Sept – December:

  • Train in SESR
  • Make your plan

  • Complete on-site activities
  • Identify triggers/barriers/drivers
  • Develop improvement strategies/activities
  • Determine how improvement planning can be integrated/included with other initiatives
  • Complete corrective actions for student non-compliance issues
